Teacher's Tips

Teachers can either pick or allow students to pick their own partners. However, if there are a number of students who need extra help, it maybe wise to pick groups. The teacher can place weaker students with stronger pupils.

Teachers should set specific dates when each activity is due. Each date should be specified at the beginning of the project. This will provide students with a schedule to follow.  Also, this allows students to manage their time wisely and to develop responsibility.

Provide dates when each activity is due. The teacher can even remind the students a couple of days in advance when activities are due, if desired.

Teachers should have taken the time to look at each website themselves before setting the students lose on the web. You need to be familiar with material to help students and to be aware of plagiarism.

Teachers should make sure that each activity is explained thoroughly.  Ask questions around the class to see how well students are understanding the instructions.

Teachers may wish to look for text books which provide a description of map making.

Teachers should encourage students to develop their creativity, originality and imagination.
